Public Transit

Public Transit is a great way to get around Watertown. It is sustainable and usually less expensive than driving. To your left, there are some resources to help you get around easily and efficiently by public transit.

The Watertown Transit Map shows public transportation services in and around the City of Watertown including MBTA services and shuttle services run by the Watertown Transportation Management Association. It will be updated regularly to reflect any service changes.

Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) or simply “the T” is the public transportation authority for the Boston metropolitan area. It operates bus service, light rail service, subway service, commuter rail, and ferry service in the region. In Watertown, the MBTA operates a number of bus lines, many of which connect to subway and light rail services. In addition, commuter rail stations can be found close by in neighboring communities. Watertown Transportation Management Association

The Watertown Transportation Management Association (WTMA) is a public/private non-profit that works to address transportation concerns in the Watertown, particularly concerns related to the over-reliance on single occupancy vehicles and their related climate impacts. The WTMA currently operates a shuttle service along Pleasant St to Watertown Square with express service to Harvard Square in Cambridge. See more information.
